The Spear & Jackson Kew Gardens Razorsharp Ergo' Twist Ratchet Anvil Secateurs utilise an anvil (knife like) cutting action where the cutting blade cuts down on to a flat lower blade known as the anvil. This action is best suited to use on thicker dead ‘woody’ material. These secateurs feature a ratchet mechanism which provides a mechanical advantage to the user and allows for easy pruning in 4 short steps. Simply apply pressure until the audible click, loosen your grip slightly and reapply pressure until the next click is heard, repeat until the cut is complete. The auto-rotating lower handle helps reduce strain and fatigue during use and the high carbon steel blade is PTFE coated for rust resistance and smooth cutting, the body of secateurs is made from lightweight cast aluminium. This item carries a 10 year guarantee. The Kew range of tools has been developed in conjunction with Kew’s horticultural team, resulting in an officially licensed range of tools which are both used and recommended by Kew. Spear & Jackson’s foundations were laid in 1760, since our beginnings centuries of experience and innovation have resulted in the materials and development expertise that resides within the company today; and "continuous innovation" is at the heart of the company's ethos. This drive to improve product materials and performance can be seen in many different ways across the company's 3,000 lines.
